Notice Regarding Changes in the Repair Department

IMPORTANT NEWS FROM THE
MAPLE STREET GUITARS REPAIR DEPARTMENT!

After 16 years in the Maple Street Guitars repair department, our friend and colleague, David Boling, has decided to hang up his luthier’s  spurs.  As a talented musician and highly-skilled guitarist (with an additional background in piano restoration), Dave brings a rare and valuable insight to the world of guitar repair; so, needless to say, Dave will be sorely missed!  We are profoundly grateful to him for all of his hard work and for the dedication he has shown in building our humble enterprise—there is no question that Maple Street Guitars would not be what it is today without Dave!  Moreover, apart from enriching the lives of his coworkers, we likewise believe that Dave has made an incalculable contribution to the lives of a great many guitar enthusiasts here in the greater Atlanta area and beyond.   This is all to say that he has certainly earned his retirement!  Thus, while we are sad to see Dave go, we wish him all the best in the years to come—be they filled with music, walks, soccer matches, great food, and plenty of leisure!

Meanwhile, it is unfortunately the case that we have yet to fill Dave’s position.  It is, of course, very difficult to find a qualified person with a similar skill set; but, the situation has been further complicated by the COVID-19 pandemic, where our efforts to maintain a safe working environment have limited our ability to bring new staff onboard.   In an effort to manage our existing work load and also attend to our store stock, we have decided to put a moratorium on any further repair work until further notice, effective Wednesday, December 16, 2020.  During this time, we will be actively seeking a qualified repairman to join our team, while also taking the opportunity to reorganize our repair department. We realize that this will be an inconvenience for many of our customers who routinely rely on us for their guitar service needs; however, we feel that this action is necessary to ensure that we are able to provide our high standard of service going forward.  We greatly appreciate everyone’s patience during this transitional time, and we look forward to resuming our repair operations again in the near future.

HELP WANTED IN REPAIRS!

Maple Street Guitars is presently seeking a qualified repairman or luthier for a full-time position in our repair shop.  In addition to servicing/repairing customer’s instruments, this position would also entail preparation and maintenance of store stock.  Applicants would be expected to have a solid understanding of general setup procedures and experience with routine repairs for all types of guitars including: crafting custom nuts and saddles from blanks, fret work, crack repairs (e.g., body and headstock), bracing repairs, bridge removal and re-glues, finish touch ups, acoustic and electric pickup installation, basic wiring, etc.  Any additional experience with mandolins, banjos, and other fretted instruments would certainly be a plus!

Located in Atlanta, GA, Maple Street Guitars is a long-established family business which over the last 40 years has built a reputation for the high quality of the instruments it sells as wells the customer service it provides. To become a community asset has always been our goal.   Consequently, we strive to cultivate long-standing relationships with our customers.  Therefore, good communication skills, as well as a willingness to deal with the public in an open, friendly, and professional manner are a must!  Applicants are encouraged send resumes to maplestreetguitars@gmail.com.  Otherwise contact George or Lindsay Petsch at 404-231-5214 .
